2009-2010 GBCASA Planning Meeting

- Finances
- Overall, finances are good. We currently have approximately $900, but dues are down. We intend to remind people at meetings to pay their dues. We are also going to have a paypal option on the website.
- Dues will not be raised or lowered due to the current economic situation. Dues will remain at $15 for the 2009 – 2010 year.
- Update 9/15/09: credit card number was stolen and account has been suspended. We will get all our money back, but the account will not be fully functioning until 9/25/09. In the meantime, Herb will pay for events out of his personal funds and get reimbursed later.
- Website Update
- Website launched last week. We intend to have information for upcoming events on the website and send out email updates from the website.
- Event Notifications
- We are hoping to switch over to email notices primarily. We will have an option for people to continue to receive paper notices if they wish.
- Notification schedule: First notification should be sent out 1 month before event, second notice 1 week before event.
- We also discussed sending out a tentative schedule and using LinkedIn or Facebook to notify members.
- Event Scheduling
- We are shooting for scheduling events on Wednesdays/Thursdays on the second week of the month.
- Newman Fund Concert
- Taking place September 17, 2009. The musicians are good. We will be recording it with the intention to sell recordings from these concerts as a fundraiser in the future.
- Meeting Ideas (with proposed dates)
- October – Tim Johnson at HMMH presentation on Active Noise Cancellation System for Locomotive Cabs presentation. Organizer:Herb Singleton
- November - no meeting scheduled at present.
- December – Gordon Hempton lecture with possible panel discussion on his book “One Square Inch of Silence”. Organizer: Mary Florentine (NOTE: We may need cosponsors for this meeting)
- January – Don Kiel from Indiana to talk about Array Loudspeakers for Directing Sound in Large Venues. Organizer: Herb Singleton, joint meeting with AES and Boston Audio Society.
- February – Panel or workshop on upcoming modifications to the L90 requirement and the way consultants implement it. Organizer: Bob Hellweg
- March – Tour and Concert at new WGBH Television Facility (auditorium) “Making Music for Ken Burns”. Organizer: Bill Cavanaugh (with help from Rose Mary Su and Alicia Wagner)
- April – Book signing for Chris Jaffe and Bill Cavanaugh & Greg Tocci's new books. Organizer: Andy Carballeira.
- May – Panel/Lecture on Low Frequencey Noise in Wind Turbines. Organizer: Bob Hellweg
- June – Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Organizer: Bill Cavanaugh and Dick Campbell, joint with Narragansett Chapter.
- June – Annual Newman Fund Concert. Organizer: Andy Carballeira.
- July - no meeting scheduled at present.

- Bill Cavanaugh and Chris Jaffe talk about their books once they are published
- Visit to the Paramount Center (Emerson College) led by Bob Berens – suggested by Jeff Fullerton
- Panel discussion on LEED and How It Affects Us – suggested by Gladys Unger
